Meet our Board 〰️

We’d love to introduce you to our board of directors!

  • President of the Board

Julius began his boatbuilding journey in Maine, learning the trade from Kevin Carney and Owen Page at The Apprenticeshop in Rockland, Maine.

Upon completing his apprenticeship in traditional boatbuilding, Julius went to work for Lyman-Morse Boatbuilders in Thomaston, Maine, building new, custom yachts and jet boats. He has now opened up his own wooden boat shop here in Colorado, Denver Custom Boatworks, and spends much of his time restoring classic wooden runabouts and the occasional wooden sailboat or rowing craft.

Alice, a long-time Colorado resident, taught for more than 25 years in Aurora Public Schools. More than ten years ago, she began bringing woodworking into her classrooms and today continues that legacy through her Thinker Tinker Workshop, where she teaches children of all ages basic carpentry skills.

A few of Alice’s personal projects include building a kayak and sailing the South Pacific for a year as crew member, navigator, cook, and mechanic. She is passionate about helping students learn the essential life skills of thinking for themselves and aiding them in increasing self-confidence.
