Why we’re putting a wooden boat school on the edge of Rocky Mountain National Park

Grand Lake, Colorado, has a storied history with wooden boats going back to the earliest days of the 20th Century. The mission of the Rocky Mountain Wooden Boat School is to insure that this history is maintained  and continued through the promotion and  preservation of the classic boats that still enjoy these waters.

The school's focus is to educate young and old alike to develop the skills that go into constructing and restoring these beautiful, wooden boats. Classes are held year-round with a particular focus on providing opportunities for internships for high school and post-high school young adults interested in a career in the marine field.  The school also has set a goal of building a fleet of small rowing and sailing craft that are accessible to children and their parents as a means of developing skills on the water.

Everyone is invited to become a member of the Rocky Mountain Wooden Boat School.
